MILK PROCUREMENT & PROCESSORS ASSOCIATION
(DDMPPA)

Established in 1996 with assistance of AgEnt Project with all the main Milk processing organizations with aim of creating an enabling environment in the milk production and processing industry particularly through Government policy. Dairy Development, Milk Procurement & Processors Association represents the capability of providing a daily Milk marketing opportunity for about 200,000 mainly small farmers involved in the dairy agribusiness in Sri Lanka.

the Quality of life of those engaged in the milk Industry”

Feature of the Industry


1. Local milk production has declined below 20% of national Consumption resulting in a large loss of National Foreign Exchange
2. The Scenario is advantage to the milk importers which persist despite endurance of our association to redress the situation
3. Our members have been able to change the milk drinking habit from powdered milk to liquid milk
4. Per capital consumption of milk is
a. Fresh 14.98 g per day (11.86 cal, 0.52 g Protein)
b. Whole Dried 11.22 g per day (55.65 cal, 2.89 g Protein)
c. Condensed 0.67 g per day ( 2.17 cal, 0.05 g Protein)
d. Milk food (Yogurt etc) 0.36 g per day ( 0.22 cal, 0.01 g Protein)
