Kegalle Vanilla Growers Association (KVGA)
Promotion of growing Vanilla was initiated by Agro-Enterprise (AgEnt) Project funded by United State of America International Development Initiative (USAID) in 1994. Selected farmers were given planting material to initiate the vanilla cultivation in the Kegalle District.
In 1998 with the assistance of AgEnt project Kegalle Vanilla Growers Association
was created to facilitate the growth of this high value crop in a commercial
scale and sustain the cultivators. KVGA is assisted by NAC in its mission
to the society.
Mission
To Promote Organic Vanilla Cultivation
Four farmers from the Kegalle Vanilla Growers Association had the opportunity
of participating in the educational tour of Kerala, India to obtain first
had experience of successful Vanilla Cultivation techniques and methods. This
tour was made possible by the assistance of National Agribusiness Council.

• Introduce a new economical crop to uplift the economy
• Organize Vanilla farmers
• Creating Agricultural Entrepreneurs
